Have you noticed how much changes and how quickly it changes? People change, work changes, our families change, and our lives change regularly and recurrently. . . nothing stays the same. Maybe that is good. Years ago, I remember reading a very profound article about how difficult it is to REALLY have a fresh start as an adult. It is not that easy, and I’m not sure that all of the change in our lives constitutes a fresh start, but there are certainly opportunities to reinvent ourselves based on the continuous rate and pace of change.
One thing that I have found to be crucial in order to take advantage of opportunities to improve ourselves and learn and move forward is the mindset that we choose. If you have what most refer to as a ‘fixed mindset’, then you will stop yourself from taking advantage of the opportunities that come your way because of the beliefs you choose about what you can and cannot do, who you are and who you are not, and the measure of comfort that you need and want in your life. A fixed mindset will totally rob you from the opportunity to learn and grow in your life.
Once you build your growth mindset, you will be able to grow, learn, and improve your life and the lives of those that you love more than you ever imagined. You will be open to possibilities that right now you aren’t even aware of. I had a client who described this to me as ‘finding out that my life was off track and getting it back on track . . . but I had no idea that it was off track to begin with’. It is like that . . . this changing your mindset so that you become aware of possibilities and opportunities that you aren’t currently aware of and don’t know that you are missing. And as you develop this mindset for yourself, your impact on the lives of those around you will be significant.
Getting your life back on track . . . . with a fixed mindset, you may not even realize where it is off track. I can tell you that opening my mind with a growth mindset has been amazingly powerful and very invigorating. A growth mindset has allowed me and others to see all sorts of Interesting possibilities that I had no idea were even options.
