What is Love in YOUR Life?
Are you feeling the pressure of Valentine’s Day and the whole month of February? It’s understandable; sometimes the world’s expectations can feel like too much, right?
But hey, let’s take a breather. Love comes in all shapes and sizes, and it’s something worth celebrating in every form.
Think about it: there are so many types of love that we experience throughout our lives:
- Brotherly Love: This is the love of friendship founded on mutual goodness and understanding. Those in this type of love relationship are often confidants.
- Family Love: This is typically considered a deeper subset of brotherly love and often refers to those you consider to be family (traditional family through blood and marriage or adopted by the heart family).
- Playful Love: Often misunderstood because this crosses several over several other types of love. It is platonic and yet playful in its nature. It is casual, fun, and long lasting and requires time to grow and mature.
- Practical Love: This type of relationship transcends physical needs and focuses on a deep commitment and compassionate love and respect for each other.
- Self Love: This is connected to your confidence and self-esteem . . . what you really think about yourself and how you really care for yourself? Buddhists believe that this is tied to self compassion.
- Passionate Love: Typically considered to be passionate, affectionate, and physical love.
- Unconditional Love: Often referred to as Agape love (from the ancient Greek), which describes God’s love to us.
Now, I’m not asking you to tally up what you think you’re missing. That’s not the point. Instead, let’s focus on what we do have. Even just one of these forms of love is a blessing worth celebrating!
So, let’s make this Valentine’s season about celebrating the love in our lives, however it shows up. Let’s ditch the pressure of marketing and embrace the richness of our love connections.
Here’s to your happiness and success, always!
